The “Mladi Info” website was created in 2008 by a few young activists from Macedonia, who experienced the benefits of international mobility and education and wanted to bring these same opportunities to other local students in Macedonia. The idea started in 2003, by creation of Mladi Info – FEJS MK, a local office of the European Youth Press, designed to “promote and mediate the communication between young people, students, professors, researchers, university officials, youth NGOs and all those involved in the educational process in Macedonia and the region”.
Over the years, “Mladi Info” has transformed into an online platform with the goal of closing the information gap by offering a huge range of international grants, scholarships, trainings, volunteer positions, jobs, and internships to local students. The site now have one million visits per day, 15,000 Facebook and Twitter followers, and an average of 10 requests per week for content publishing from various organizations and academic institutions. Recently, the site has successfully initiated “daughter” organizations in Slovakia, Czech Republic and Montenegro, making “Mladi Info” a region-wide initiative.
Aside from the website, “Mladi Info” also runs a Grant Info Center located in one of Skopje’s main universities. The center promotes opportunities for formal and informal education, scientific research, and various conferences and trainings. It is open for all young people, students, professors and researchers who are interested in continuing their education and professional development. Mladi Info – FEJS MK is also a member of the European Voluntary Services (EVS) network and is accredited as a sending organization.
“Mladi Info” website was named one of the top five web portals in the world in the ‘Education For All’ category at the World Summit Youth Award in 2009.
