In a reverse motion to the Australian government’s attempts to have Asian students study in Australia, the country now hopes to create a project to have Australian students study at Asian universities. The movement would allow students to study in Australia while also traveling to other universities in Beijing, Tokyo, Hong Kong and Singapore.
“The idea behind this plan is to capture that spirit of the Colombo Plan but give opportunities for the best and brightest in Australia to study at universities in our region,” said the Opposition’s foreign affairs spokeswoman.
The movement would not only create greater opportunities for students, but would also a closer tie between Australia and its Asian neighbors. Students would also gain a more multicultural background, which would aid them in the workforce.
