Global Infancia, or Global Children, was founded in Paraguay in 1995 with the objective of providing children and adolescents their rights as subjects. In the aftermath of the dictatorship of Alfredo Stroessner, Global Children was established to promote and protect the rights of children.
Its goals include:
- Promotion of children and adolescents’ right to education
- Installation of rights of children and adolescents as participating citizens
- Promotion of inclusive social processes that emphasize intergenerational and intercultural diversity
- Installation of rights in learning spaces and social interaction
- Development of tools and systems of research to monitor compliance with children and adolescents’ rights.
Recently, the Global Infancia joined hands with the Community Development Center of Remansito, a small town in Paraguay, to provide school kits to 600 children. This program is also supported by the Committee of Mothers and the Canadian Christian Fund for Children (CCFC).
This initiative is part of the Remansito Development Center’s engagement with education. The program also includes school support, socio-educational workshops, interaction between youth and adolescents and their parents and teachers, and skills development.
The program also covers health care and prevention of diseases. It promotes a connection between children, adolescents, and the organizations responsible for their education and growth, such as the Ministry of Education and Culture, National Police, Civil Registry, and Health Center.
