Microsoft Education Competition Spreads Creativity in Oman

090715-N-0696M-114Winners were announced for Microsoft Oman and the Ministry of Education’s secondary school competition, “Imagine Us”. With the continuation of efforts to spread education throughout the sultanate, the competition allows for greater access to education and creativity.

Categories for the competition included Web Design, Digital Video, Graphic Design and Game Programming. The theme for the year was “Ensure Environmental Sustainability!” The competition was first created as a means for students to creatively find means of innovation and to become more familiar with technology and other forms of education.

“Education is a key enabler to help the Sultanate in its efforts to become a successful knowledge-based society. We strive to prepare a new generation of future leaders by improving their skills in problem solving, creative thinking, scientific research, teamwork and getting away from the conventional method of education which focuses on the book as the only source of knowledge,” said the Deputy Director, Educational Technology Department, e-learning section, Ministry of Education.
