Bosnia-Herzegovina Students Win Gold Medals in Bucharest Informatics Competition
Two students of the International BURCH University in Sarajevo won gold medals at the 10th annual Infomatrix, a prestigious computer science competition held in Bucharest, Romania earlier this month. Second year students at the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology were awarded first place in the category of “Hardware Control”. The two students competed against 180 teams from 39 different countries.
Sabahudin Husic and Dzenis Ejupi’s winning project (“DNA:Dry Neural Arrays”) enabled them to create a device that uses human brain waves to control a machine, in this case a robotic hand. They also invented a software that can be used in the film industry to harness brain waves to control the scenario of the movie based on the audience’s feelings and impressions.
The International BURCH University rector said the university is extremely proud of the success of its students but that this is primarily their own success and success for their country. Although pleased with the proof that the personal and financial support of the University for its students is paying off, he expressed the hope that Bosnia-Herzegovina (BiH) will begin realizing what a huge potential it has in its young people and that the education system, as a whole, can move one step forward.
Apart from two gold medals, BiH students also won two silver medals and a bronze medal in the hardware control category.
