Ohio, USA: The World Came Together for Education
So much is gained when educators from around the world meet to discuss the obstacles they face in promoting education and the successes in overcoming these obstacles within their communities.
That is exactly what happened this month, at Cuyahoga Community College near Cleveland, Ohio. High school students from Revere High School got to attend the conference which was focused on conflict resolution and increasing global awareness of the importance of education. Among those present at the conference were Ministers of Education from Belize, Trinidad and Tobago, and Australia.
At the conference, the Minister of Education of Australia, Gary Shaw, spoke to the importance of global citizenship. “To ensure that relationships that are formed with other people are and not based on misinformation,” we should have a degree of global citizenship, he said.
The international conference also promotes student and faculty exchanges. The high school students were introduced to new opportunities for foreign exchange.
